Though they enjoy a luxurious life in the Bel-Air Mansion, some contestants complain about having no privacy. In previous American Idol competitions, some contestants has sneaked out to Los Angeles nightclubs to drink and had got into various kinds of troubles. So this time, the security is beefed and they are watched all the time through ‘Big Brother’-like cameras.
The 30 million dollar mansion has everything one would want. It has 20 bathrooms, an indoor swimming pool, a spa, a 20 seat theatre for the contestants to practice, an outdoor pool, basketball court, bowling alley, a gym and the list goes on.
A contestant was heard saying, “I feel like a bird in a gilded cage! Don’t get me wrong, the place is gorgeous, with breathtaking views. But we have no privacy!” another contestant said, “There are security guards shadowing the finalists virtually from the moment they walk in the door until the moment they go to sleep. And, if the guards aren’t there, there are security cameras all over the house – except in the bedrooms and in the bathrooms.”
The producers aren’t taking any chances and the contestants aren’t even allowed to drive their own cars, they are chauffeured by a driver hired by the show. They have to follow a 10 p. m. curfew and except for one underage contestant’s mother, no overnight guests are allowed. Well cant blame the reality show organizers, they are just doing what is necessary for the show.
