American Idol: Top 12 plus 1
After having chosen the top 9, it was time to reveal the last three who made the cut. But there was a surprise in store for the viewers. For the first time, the judges decided to change it to Top 12 plus 1, giving someone a second chance.
As the Wild Card designated time went past 9 p. m, Ryan called Anoop Desai and Matt Giraud to the stage and Simon informed Giraud that he would be staying. This was purely judges’ call and did not involve voting.
When Simon told Giraud that he gave off a Taylor Hicks vibe, it made you think that maybe he is going down. But twenty-one-year-old Anoop Desai once again impressed everyone with his unbeatable energy and his fan base. Simon compared him to an “enthusiastic dog” and said “We’ve got to put some personality through.”
When Anoop was told that instead of being sent home, he was the last in the top 13, he covered his face with his hands with joy at the new chance.
Of those sent home were, Ricky Braddy, for not having enough pizzazz, Von Smith for toning down his theatricality too much and making the judges think he was dully serious.
And then there was Tatiana del Toro, to whom Simon was especially rude for turning the Whitney Houston’s song into some signature song for herself. After she was told she was out, she was consoled by the judges as she wept and it was all very unpleasant.
Patricia, you are absolutely correct, it shows that you’re an authority on the subject. Who thinks Chrystal Bowersox will be the 2010 American Idol? I think so as her last song was brilliant and one of the finest performances I have ever heard on the show.
I really enjoyed the top 5 American idol group song last night. It was a pity to see Aaron Kelly removed but I believe the other singers were better hence he needed to go!
I saw American Idol winner Lee has recently signed up to RCA records. I cannot wait to hear his new album.
I think Donald Trump would be a better American Idol judge compared with Harry Connick Jr. – Trump is not afraid to express what he thinks and can be as outspoken as Simon Cowell.
