Amy Winehouse Pleads Not Guilty
Amy Winehouse has pleaded ‘Not Guilty’ to the charge of common assault against Sherene Flash. The assault is said to have occured in September 2008 at a high society ball in Berkeley Square, London. The hearing was held at the City of Westminster Magistrates Court and lasted only about 15 minutes.
Winehouse, 29, appeared in court dressed in a short printed summer dress which was cut low enough to reveal her many tattoos as well as her bra. She was also decked in four inch pink stiletto heels and her trademark beehive.
Much to the delight of reporters present at the hearing, Winehouse spoke clearly from behind a clear plastic shield, although she spoke only a few sentences. She announced her name as Amy Jade Civil – her married name and pleaded “not guilty” when the charge was put to her.
A security guard noticed her fidgeting with her asked if she was okay, to which she replied, “Me? I’m alright.” A few feet away from her were here father Mitch and a minder, who had driven her down to the court from her new home in Barnet, north London.
The hearing was conducted by District judge and chief magistrate Timothy Workman, who set a trial date of July 23 and permitted Winehouse to be remanded on bail.
Apparently pleased with herself and maintaining her public persona, the singer strutted and posed for the gathered photographers before being whisked away.
