The Bachelor, ABC’s reality series just had one of the most shocking endings on Tuesday. Jason Mesnick Broke up with his fiancée Melissa Rycroft on camera and got back together with the runner up Molly Malaney. There are rumors online that this outcome may have been fixed, to which the creator Mike Fleiss told PEOPLE, “That’s patently untrue. It was [Jason’s] choice in New Zealand who he proposed to” But later Fleiss said “He was not in love with Melissa anymore and he was in love with Molly and he needed to make a change.” They hadn’t shown breakups before but this they just had to.
Fleiss didn’t see this coming in fact he was trying to get Molly Malaney into being the Bachelorette. “She was finally starting to come around and saying she wanted to do it, and she spoke to her family,” he says. Fleiss then learned that Jason had never stopped thinking about Molly and wasn’t getting along with Melissa. He admits having mixed feelings about this. Though at the end he felt it would be a remarkable twist to the show.
Jason Mesnick said he knew the Bachelor viewers would think of him as a jerk and that he is not proud of what he had to do and would have preferred doing it off camera. He found that after the Bachelors show, he and Melissa didn’t communicate as well as they used to on the show and didn’t have much to talk about and everything seemed different. He felt they weren’t right for each other.
