Kim Kardashian painted on her most serious sadface for a public appearance at Sydney retailer Hugo’s on Wednesday, refusing to smile for photographs as she made her way down the red carpet.
It was business as usual for Kim, who on Monday announced her intention to divorce her husband of just 72 days, Kris Humphries. The same day, she made her way to Los Angeles International Airport, where she caught a flight to Australia for the launch of Kardashian Kollection handbags. Her sister, Khloe, and brother-in-law, Lamar Odom, were with her on the flight and at the launch.
On Tuesday, Kim reacted to the spate of bad press following her divorce announcement by publishing a statement on her official site that included the following passages:
“Everyone that knows me knows that I’m a hopeless romantic! I love with all of my heart and soul. I want a family and babies and a real life so badly that maybe I rushed in to something too soon. I believed in love and the dream of what I wanted so badly. I felt like I was on a fast roller coaster and couldn’t get off when now I know I probably should have. I got caught up with the hoopla and the filming of the TV show that when I probably should have ended my relationship, I didn’t know how to and didn’t want to disappoint a lot of people.
I’m being honest here and I hope you respect my courage because this isn’t easy to go through. But I do know that I have to follow my heart. I never had the intention of hurting anybody and I accept full responsibility for my actions and decisions, and for taking everyone on this journey with me. It just didn’t turn out to be the fairy tale I had so badly hoped for.”
Kim also denied having made any money off her wedding, which is somewhat odd – how come she didn’t have a comment on the $17 million payoff reports ten weeks ago?
Meanwhile, Kris Humphries has managed to stay under the radar since releasing his initial statement to the press on Monday. He hasn’t update his Twitter account and he hasn’t been seen by the media press.
