Michael Douglas, the famous Hollywood actor must have taken a trip to the Caribbean countries of late. Well, that’s what we can assume judging from his latest comments about marijuana. In a recent interview, Michael called on the American government to let the common person use marijuana without restrictions.
Michael compared the legalization of marijuana to that of alcohol. He recalled that years ago when alcohol was prohibited, gangs had sprung up and insecurity was at an all time high. After alcohol was legalized, gangs slowly disappeared and people generally became happy. The same thing is happening today with the prohibition of cannabis, he stated. Michael insinuated that the increase in violence and hopelessness is because people are not allowed to smoke marijuana. His solution to the violence and hopelessness: legalize marijuana!
The actor is of the opinion that the government should first try to solve the problems of violence before concentrating on other issues like education and health. His solution to the problem of violence will not cost the government anything in terms of budgetary concerns. Only an amendment of the laws prohibiting the use of marijuana is required. With that, bang, the gangs will slowly die, Americans would be happier, and the country would be more peaceful.
The 64 year old actor also touched on the weak global economy. According to him, legalization of marijuana would boost the American economy and the world would be more peaceful. Let the economy grow, let the people smoke, and everyone is happy. It’s a win-win situation for both the government and the people.
Well, Michael’s suggestions are well noted. What we are not sure is whether there is any senator who is taking him seriously. We also really hope Michael hadn’t smoked anything when giving the interview.
