Mickey Rourke keeps his word
Two months ago Mickey Rourke had told that he would fight Chris Jericho at Wrestlemania 25 and had told Jericho, “You better get in shape, because I’m coming after your ass.” Chris had told him to watch himself. The Wrestlemania star made a guest appearance on Larry King and told Rourke “If you get your wish, Mr. Rourke, you will learn things you never learned in playing a wrestler in a movie.”
After this, Rourke tried to settle things down by saying he has nothing but respect for Jericho. The wrestler got into the ring with Jericho on Sunday in Houston. Rourke knocked Chris Jericho to close
down the match.
Rourke had a problem with Jericho as the latter kept calling out to Rourke’s friends, Ric Flair, Roddy Piper and Ricky Steamboat during some previous events. Before the match, he said that he had a lot of respect for his friends and they could kick his butt at wrestling at any given time.
But, during the event, Flair, Piper and Steamboat got in the ring along with Jimmy Snuka and were defeated. This was before Rourke got in the ring and knocked Jericho out. After his victory, he was joined by Ric in celebration.
Hours before the event, Rourke said he was doing a movie and couldn’t get into the ring, but got in anyway. This match was probably staged like most wrestling matches but it was kind of cool to see him go up there and fight Jericho at the end.
