President Obama on ‘The Tonight Show’

President Obama became the first sitting president to come on ‘The Tonight Show with Jay Leno’. Jay Leno and President Obama did 3 segments of 7 minutes each and the president was charming and funny throughout as always. The talk revolved arounf politics and various policies. He joked about how his life is as a president.

He spoke about AIG and how his administration has been criticized. He jokingly said, “It’s a little bit like American Idol, only everyone is Simon Cowell.” He criticized AIGs for their sense of entitlement and hoped America will be able to “get back to the values that built America.” President Obama also defended Tim Geitner his Treasury Secretary and said “I’m the president, ultimately this is my responsibility.” He also spoke about lower and fairer tax rates and said America needed some financial regulation and that most of the business that went around was legal.

Leno kept the fun talk to the end of the interview and asked him if the dog he promised his daughter was coming and Obama confirmed it. He also told Leno that he was planning to change one of the tennis courts in the White House into a basketball court.

This late- night talk show may make the president look like a common man but that’s what makes this president special and that’s why people feel closer to him. Though Congressional Republicans frowned upon him doing this interview, it was a very nice interview and Jay Leno gave him enough time to put his points across.
