Salma Hayek got married to French billionaire François-Henri at Venice’s prestigious Teatro La Fenice opera house. The celebration that followed was indeed worthy of this one of the most highly-esteemed venues.
The music kicked in during the ceremony itself. The 150 guests including who’s who celebrities like Penélope Cruz, Javier Bardem, Ed Norton, Woody Harrelson, Charlize Theron, Stella McCartney and Ashley Judd, serenaded the newly married couple with a Hawaiian-style version of the sentimental classic from The Wizard of Oz, “Over the Rainbow.”
Later, during the charming wedding reception ceremony, Hayek herself, along with Theron and Harrelson joined Bono and Damien Rice on stage for a rendition of “Stand By Me.”
The guests were entertained by a large 14 member band in the opera house. But, it seems the singing and revelry continued outside its wall as well. Theron and companion Stuart Townsend, along with designer McCartney, were taking a break outside and at one point, the two women sang “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina,” from Evita for Hayek.
By this time, Hayek who was dressed in a stunning Balenciaga wedding gown had changed into a knee-length fuschia dress. Outside, she joined the two girls in singing the Rolling Stones’ classic “(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction.”
The party went on till the wee hours of the morning. The last guest, Lucy Liu, was seen leaving the venue on foot around 3 a.m.
“It was all about love, family and friends,” says a wedding guest. Not to mention song.
