Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, who made family value a major talking point to pave her way as the first woman Vice President of the US has had another blow of bad publicity. During the election campaigns, she had paraded her unmarried, pregnant teen daughter, Bristol Palin along with her high school lover and father of her unborn baby, Levi Johnston. The baby was born two months ago and on a FOX news interview, Bristol had claimed that she and Johnston were expected to marry when they finish high school.

However, according to sources, Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston split a few weeks ago. The split was mutual and amicable, according to friends of the couple. “It kind of just happened,” says the source, referring to the split. “I thought they would stick it out. But I think they can work together to raise Tripp.” Tripp is the name of the two month baby, named in the same eccentric fashion as the rest of the Palin children. “I’m not sure what caused – it’s common knowledge,” says another source who knows the family.

Despite the breakup, sources claim that Levi continues to see his son. According to Levi’s father, Keith Johnston, Levi is a devoted and “proud father.” On the other hand, Bristol is said to be holding up okay and Tripp is said to be fine. Bristol was recently spotted shopping and exercising around Wasilla.
