The divorce settlement that the court had ordered John Cleese for his third wife has been cut by half. He was supposed to pay a maintenance of £1.3 million per year and he successfully argued in court, asking the amount to be halved. He also called paying that amount as “feeding the beast”. A judge in US agreed that the sum John Cleese had been ordered to pay his 64 year old wife, American Alice Faye Eichelberger, was in face excessive.

A source close to the Monty Python actor said, ‘The settlement has been cut back because it was unrealistic. The lawyers had been wrangling for some time.” He still has to pay £57,000 per month to Miss Eichelberger who he was married to for 15 years.

He was heard saying recently: ‘In my 70th year I will still be spending two months a year doing work that is of no interest to me and which is probably slightly spiritually depleting in order to feed the beast.’ And comparing with his other two divorces, he said they were more peaceful. In addition to maintenance his third wife has also demanded 2 houses and half of his earnings during the marriage. Talk bout being high maintenance!
To top this off, Cleese has had a very lean year and his monthly income is actually £76,363. she will be taking more than half of it. He also had to sell of his ranch to pay for the divorce. Maybe he shouldn’t marry again.
