We have heard that Usher cancelled his pre-Grammy performance at Clive Davis’s gala because of a medical emergency in the family, or so we were told. We then found out that the medical emergency involved his Tameka Raymond and that she was undergoing a plastic surgery procedure. But that was all we heard within the last few days.
Now, details of Tameka’s plastic surgery emergency have been revealed by Ellen Dasptry, a rep for Sao Paulo plastic surgeon Dr. Silvio Sterman, who was to have performed the surgery. According to her, the procedure left Raymond in a medically-induced coma and gave further details of the procedure. Tamera was in Brazil for a liposuction procedure on her stomach two months after the birth of the couple’s second son. Shortly after she went under [general] anesthesia, she suffered a cardiac arrest,” Dasptry reveals.
Raymond never did go through the liposuction procedure eventually. As soon as she had the cardiac arrest, she was immediately revived and then placed in an induced coma. “When an attack like this happens, the doctors put the patient to sleep… and make sure that everything is okay and that there has not been any damage,” explains Dasptry. “This is the protocol every time and this is what was done.”
Raymond spent a day in the ICU and was later transferred to Sao Paulo’s Hospital Sírio-Libanês, considered one of the finest hospitals in Brazil. After more than a week after the incident, she is now finally said to be “doing very well.”
